SUPPORT FOR THE PRODUCTION AND PLANTING OF 1000 TREES OF NATIVE SPECIES

THE PARTICIPATORY COUNCIL OF WOMEN OF SAMANÁ is a group led by 28 women coffee growers from the municipality of Samaná in the department of Caldas.

Since 2019, this group of women has carried out essential work to contribute to the empowerment of women coffee growers as well as to the improvement of the environment in their area and their coffee lots, protecting and conserving the hydrographic micro-basins that supply and supply the village aqueducts. of the municipality of Samaná.

This initiative contributes to the protection and conservation of natural resources as well as to improving the income of the women coffee growers who participate in the process.

For them, working producing and planting trees of native species plays a vital role in ecosystems, giving rise to the conservation and protection of micro-watersheds, with the aim of giving greater added value to their natural environment and thus providing protection to biodiversity as well as favoring the connectivity of the relicts of natural forests, the enrichment of forests, the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the conservation of water sources and the permanence of their traditional ways of life to support and contribute to the sustainable and productive life of its coffee plantations, as well as its natural and cultural heritage.

With your help, the group of women will be able to carry out the structuring, production and planting of 1,000 trees of native species strategically distributed in the area of ​​interest, which contribute not only to the recovery and protection of the environment, but also to their quality of life and to continue growing their empowerment as women coffee growers.
